When You're Feeling Down ...  Reach Up.

Don't wait until you have an emergency.  Reach out while you're still strong.  Hope is out there.

Communities reach out to those who are going through hard times and need a boost up.  Sometimes the assistance needed is short term.
Sometimes the need is for long term care.  Often, the obstacles people face have to do with the affordability of goods and services which are
otherwise available in the community.  Although at times, it may seem otherwise, the community is there to help.  That's what community
is about.

One good place to start is the United Way.  They know of nearly every resource and social service in your area.  You can call the local
number at 503.222.5555, or more easily, call 211.  Just like the 911 number for emergencies, 211 has been reserved nationally for social
service assistance.

If you are in need of mental health services and cannot afford them, Community Mental Health Centers offer services which may be free or
at very low cost.  The United Way and 211 can help you out with this as well.
